Kenneth Bernholm

Complete resume from 1988 to 2025.

Period: 2023-2025
Company: Outhouse (graphic production company)
Function: Programmer, System Administrator, and Technical Writer
I participated in the development and maintenance of an internal PIM/DAM-system. I wrote independent queue and logging systems, introduced and implemented testable packages, and refactored a lot of code. I also established and maintained a base of technical documentation, performed system administration, set up Nagios system monitoring with custom plugins, and configured automatic backup. Eventually, I realized that this relationship was a poor match and I had to find an employer with a stronger base in software development.

2020-2023
Company: Hubhus (CRM software house)
Function: Programmer
I developed an interactive dashboard, search facilities, automation, and more for a custom CRM system. I wrote, edited, and managed the main repository of technical documentation and I refactored a lot of code and introduced online project management and issue tracking. The employment came to an end when I was tempted into an interesting startup that unfortunately failed to materialize.

Period: 2019-2020
Company: Sitecore (CRM software house)
Function: Technical Writer
I wrote technical documentation for Platform Administration and Architecture and Developer Tools and created illustrations and diagrams. I also wrote and maintained an installation guide, a programmers guide, and a tool for exporting content from Paligo to Microsoft Word. Additionally, I did some C# programming to test the product and to produce code samples for developers. I stopped because of a toxic team culture.

Period: 2011-2018
Company: Knowhow Data (ERP software house)
Function: Architect, Programmer, System Administrator, and Project Manager
I programmed CMS based fire inspection websites, webapps, and webservices for the Danish Association of Municipal Fire and Rescue Departments as well as cargo and people transport systems with integration to Microsoft Dynamics NAV and C5. I also introduced online project management and issue tracking. In the end, the ERP company ran out of web development work and I had to move on.

Period: 2008-2011
Company: TechHouse (web agency)
Function: Programmer and Web Designer
I designed and programmed Search Engine Optimized (SEO) CMS based websites and webshops for clients. I also developed an in-house lead automation system for the sales team. I stopped because I got offered a position with much more influence and responsibility.

Period: 2003-2008
Function: Freelance Magazine Writer
To stay at home with my newborn son, I wrote technical articles for magazines and papers until he was in kindergarten.

Period: 2000-2003
Company: Mobilix/Orange (telecom)
Function: Programmer and System Administrator
I programmed and administered a two-way synchronization solution for customer data. When the company was merged with Telia and began outsourcing development, I declined a new position as middle manager.

Period: 1998-2000
Company: IDG (technology publishing house)
Function: Magazine Writer and Editor
I wrote and edited articles for the magazines PC World and NetWorld. I stopped in protest because a very competent editor-in-chief and good leader whom I liked and admired was unfairly dismissed.

Period: 1997-1998
Company: Forlaget Globe (technology publishing house)
Function: Technical Writer and Book Designer
I wrote and edited textbooks on Microsoft and Linux technologies. Unfortunately, I found the material too lightweight and too focused on Microsoft for me to continue.

Period: 1996-1997
Company: Audio Media (technology publishing house)
Function: Magazine Editor and Writer and Multimedia Designer
I wrote and edited articles and produced interactive cover CD-ROMs for the magazine Privat Computer. Disagreements over publishing strategies lead to the end of that.

Period: 1993-1996
Function: Freelance Programmer, Web Designer, and Magazine Writer
I wrote articles for the magazine PC-Professionel and designed the magazines Amiga Bladet and PC Player. I also designed and programmed web pages. Then I got offered a job as magazine editor at the publishing house that bought Amiga Interface and the other magazines from my first employer. This I could not turn down.

Period: 1989-1993
Function: Project Manager, Programmer, and Technical Writer
Company: Interactivision, (games and multimedia software house in Silkeborg)
I produced, designed, and programmed games, multimedia, and productivity software for danish, german, british, and american customers. Eventually, I chose to return to Copenhagen.

Period: 1988-1989
Company: Forlaget Microtech (technology publishing house in Silkeborg)
Function: Magazine Writer and Editor
I wrote articles for the magazine Amiga Interface and the publisher's other magazines before I became editor of Amiga Interface. On the side, I wrote video games with the intent to have them published. When the magazines were bought out by a competing publisher, I focused on the video games.
